About Us
Donor Conceived Families Australia (DCFA) provides evidence-based and demographically-relevant information and support to families created with the assistance of donor eggs, sperm, and/or embryos in Australia, as well as the broader community.
We are human rights professionals, mental health experts, academics, family law specialists, counsellors, legal scholars, social workers, teachers, social justice advocates, mediators and researchers who draw on lived experiences as parents, people conceived through donor assistance, donors, and members of queer and non-normative families.
Our emphasis is on providing peer-reviewed research on donor conception that reflects the unique needs and challenges of families formed through donor assistance in the 21st century.
We advocate for an intersectional analysis of donor conception that promotes justice and equity for sexual minorities, non-heteronormative family structures and people conceived via donor gametes and/or embryos.
We support evidence that shows stigma against non-normative families is the primary obstacle to this goal and reject narratives that seek to undermine these families by erroneously pitting the interests of individuals within them against each other.
DCFA believes in the empowerment of all families, embracing their unique identity, defining their future, and contributing positively to the community.
