 Our Advocacy

Promoting fairness and inclusion for all families
Centring openness
Ethical, transparent, and consistent systems
Law reform grounded in research
Supporting safe and informed communities

We advocate for fair and inclusive treatment, ensuring:

  • Laws and policy across Australia that reflect the dignity and diversity of all families

  • Equitable access to assisted reproduction and surrogacy for all

  • Inclusive, non-judgemental services across health, education, and community settings

  • Challenging stigma that delegitimises families created through donor conception

We believe children have both a right to know their conception story and a right to privacy. We advocate for:

  • Access to updated medical information and identifying donor information at maturity

  • Consent-based information sharing that respects each child’s privacy

  • Secure, centralised national registers to manage information across jurisdictions

  • Opportunities for same-donor families to connect if all parties consent and desire connecting.

Donor conception must be regulated in ways that are ethical, transparent, and rights-based. We advocate for:

  • Evidence-based counselling and informed consent processes for all parties

  • Independent oversight of clinics, including donor screening, family limits, and record-keeping

  • National consistency, so people can safely and ethically form families regardless of location

  • Legislation that provides the same legal recognition and certainty for all family forms, without discrimination based on relationships status, sexual orientation, or gender identity

  • A harmonised Australian legal framework with clear protections for donors, families, and donor-conceived people

We advocate for legal reform that is:

  • Based on peer-reviewed research - not moral panic or media sensationalism

  • Guided by those most affected: individuals who were donor conceived, parents and families, and donors

  • Balanced and practical — avoiding overregulation that reduces donor availability and drives people to unsafe, unregulated alternatives

We help families navigate donor conception with openness, confidence, and pride. We support programs and policies that include the:

  • Provision of accurate, accessible, and relevant information for families at all stages.

  • Promotion of openness within families and transparency about family origin stories.
